HiT Chariots of Fire

I remember back in 1981 this film was a sensation; we were all running around on beaches in slo-mo. Has it stood the test of time, though, and is it any more than a bit of fluff?

  1. David and Wolf:

Great episode as always. I love Chariots of Fire even more than David and would give it a 15 out of 10!

I liked Wolf’s point about individuality vs. collective. I think he is right and that is why Abrahams sings this line from the Gondoliers, “When everyone is somebody, then no one’s anybody!”

Thanks for all the great entertainment you provide.

  2. David, as I said in my comment to your Facebook post, I greatly enjoyed CoF when it came out. But despite the religious elements of Liddel’s story, I never would have thought of it as a Christmas movie. It was a great commercial success here in the US, but I don’t recall it ever appearing as regular TV Christmas fare over here (unlike the annual TV screenings of Miracle on 34th Street or It’s a Wonderful Life). Is CoF regularly shown in the UK on TV at Christmas time?
